Medical Office Renovation

Summary

When Bread Loaf built Porter Medical Center’s medical office building in 1980, it was the first structural light gauge metal framed building in the State of Vermont. This project consisted of a 3,300 square foot renovation to the original medical office building that equals roughly thirty percent of the total building area.

The renovations, located on the upper floor, required complete demolition and reconstruction of the existing space. Newly finished spaces include a waiting room, reception desk, a check-out consultation desk, multi-user office space, procedure room, laboratory space, nurses’ station, private offices, exam rooms, new bathrooms and a staff break room with a kitchen. Significant structural modifications were required to accommodate the new floor plan and a new heating, ventilating and air conditioning rooftop unit.

Since other medical offices in the building remained in operation during construction, safe and protected access to the balance of the building was maintained throughout the construction period.
